When
Don began teaching in his current position, two of his nephews were students
at the small rural school. Washington and his young charges agreed that
"Uncle Don" was not an appropriate title while in school. However, "Mr.
Washington" felt too formal. They all agreed that "U.D." was a great
compromise. As the young men and their friends became accustomed to calling
their uncle/ music teacher U.D., their aunt Dawn became A.D.
While working on "Washington's Boogie" (2004), Don and Dawn decided that it
was a good idea to give a name to their combined efforts in music
production. U.D. is the singer/songwriter, recording engineer and producer.
A.D. is the editor, art director and photographer. They share the duties of
chief "go-for" and "bottle washer". Since they had combined their best
efforts, they would also combine their names. U.D. (Uncle Don) plus A.D.
(Aunt Dawn) became UDAD.
UDAD music represents our commitment to real and heartfelt blues produced in
a simple manner for the love of the music to be enjoyed by music lovers.
